There are many reviews roaming around these days for these earbuds. This is simply due to the popularity of the product, made by one of the top headphone brands around!
However, due to the age of this product, most of us are looking for a more up to date 2018 review.
This merely indicates how the 300 ii has maintained its position on the most popular headphone charts. However, with the creation of new sets in combination with advances in technology, it can be difficult to determine whether to go for these CXs or not. For this reason, we have written this review so that you can make the best informed decision to determine whether these would be right for you.
Within this article we’ll be aiming to put this set under the microscope to determine its positive and negative qualities. We’ll be looking at its essential features while also taking the price into consideration. These features will range from:
- Design and build quality
- Ease of finding the right fit
- Comfort levels
- Quality of sound
So without further delay, let’s get to this!
Sennheiser CX 300 II-Black
Design and Build Quality
Quite a few of us prefer earbuds over other types of headphones. However, a common problem with this style is the build quality. It’s quite common for earbuds to stop working within a few months of buying. Whether this is due to the quality of the cords, the headphones jack or even the abuse that earbuds are exposed to, this is a problem which can be solved.
Obviously, the first thing you need to do is to take care of your headphones. Make sure that you store them properly rather than throwing them in your pocket in a cluttered mess. The other aspect of this is to buy a product which has been built quite well.
In terms of this aspect, this set performs quite well. Obviously plastic is the primary material used for the construction so it’ll be susceptible to damage. However, Sennheiser products are known to be long-lasting. In order to consolidate this, Sennheiser will provide a 2 year warranty which will ensure that you don’t have to suffer if something goes wrong.
When it comes to the design, firstly it’s important to mention that the Sennheiser CX 300 II is available in 2 colors – black and silver. In general, we’re looking at a pair of simple earbuds rather than fancy premium in-ear headphones. While you might be disheartened by this, let me stress that these earbuds are designed to carry out their function to the max rather than catch the in public.
Fit and Comfort
With every pair of in-ear headphones, we need to establish a secure fit in our ears. If we’re unable to do this, the slightest of movements will knock the earbuds out. Sennheiser deals with this issue by including 3 different ear tips in small, medium and large sizes. By doing this, Sennheiser are attempting to cover the entire population. Unfortunately, as we know already, 3 sizes may not be sufficient when it comes to establishing the perfect fit. This is because there are a lot of people who have small ears who experience this problem regularly. A poor fit can have some negative effects which may lead to deterioration of sound quality while also bringing about discomfort much quicker than usual.
While the fit is an obvious issue, you need to remember that most mid-range earbuds also include just 3 ear tip sizes and the precisions are no different. Generally, this set is well-known to provide a good fit so you shouldn’t experience any problems. However, it’s too bad that a perfectly secure fit can’t be guaranteed.
If you do manage to make these Sennheiser CX300s fit perfectly, then you’ll be pleased to know that the buds are quite soft and extremely comfortable. However, once again I’d like to stress that the maximum comfort will be experienced once you try all the 3 sizes of ear tips included and choose the most appropriate one.
As you can guess by the name of this product, these earbuds produce an incredibly impressive boost in the overall bass. The overall sound quality is absolutely superb and this is greatly balanced with the mids and highs being particularly impressive. In my opinion, it’d be difficult to find better sounding earbuds within a similar price range.
Another impressive feature incorporated into this set is the noise cancellation. While earbuds can be associated with a poor/lack of noise cancellation, these light weight in-ear headphones perform brilliantly with this aspect too.
Suitability for Use
Many people plan on the intended use of their earbuds before they make the purchase. However, some of you might just use these products for just about everything. This can include use during exercise, travelling or when you’re out and about.
While these earbuds would be perfect for use while walking or during steady movements, they will be prone to falling out on quicker movement. This means that you probably won’t be able to keep the buds inside your ears while jogging or other forms of intense exercise.
However, if you’re planning to use this set at work, on a train journey or even when relaxing at home then this would be perfectly suitable.
These CXs are priced at 29 bucks at this moment in time. In my opinion, if you manage to make the purchase at this price, you’ll definitely be getting a bargain. In terms of the sound, it’d be quite challenging to find another pair which can equal let alone better the sound delivered by these Sennheisers.
While the fit can be problematic, I need to stress that this will only be for the minority as most of you will be able to establish a perfect fit by trying the different ear tip sizes. In consequence, the comfort levels will allow you to wear this set for quite a number of hours without experiencing any ear fatigue.
In conclusion, I believe that it’s quite rare to find a complete pair of earbuds in 2018. Most products within our price tag will be associated with a number of flaws. In contrast to these, the set we are reviewing is as close as you can get to perfection (taking the price into consideration of course!).
