Have you already tried to find the best earbuds with volume control?
If so, then you already know the difficulty of the task at hand!
No matter what your reason for choosing this style is, one thing is clear.
A set which incorporates an in line sound remote provides great convenience for us.
If you’re listening to music while travelling or even when working out at the gym, I’m sure you’d like to change the volume quickly and easily. Unfortunately, having to pull your bulky mp3 player or smartphone out of the pocket is the opposite of quick and easy.
It’s just not convenient!
This is where an in line volume slider will come in handy.
We only face one problem!
If you’ve already looked around the market, you’ll have noticed that there are so many in-ear headphones with an in line volume remote. The main problem is that all of these look very similar yet most aren’t of a great quality.
On top of this, I’m sure you’re looking for an affordable model which incorporates this simple feature.
Let’s say you’ve easily managed to find a product which is close to what you’re looking for and you’re able to change the volume easily by using the controls on the cord.
But, what if the sound quality is poor? What if the buds hurt your ears within minutes of putting them on?
Let’s look into this a bit more.
The Best Volume Control Earbuds
You see, it’s not about finding in-ear headphones with the best sound remote but rather about finding a well-rounded product which combines this feature with many other necessary qualities.
I know I know! This will probably waste so much of your time. But it’ll be worth it when you find something that meets your specifications along whilst providing a fantastic price to performance value.
I say this but the truth is that you don’t even need to waste your time. This is because our team has carried out this time-consuming research for you.
By extensively searching and testing a large range of products, we’ve accumulated a list of 5 models which provide the greatest quality.
Without wasting any more of your time, let’s start going through this list!

Sennheiser MM30i – Great sound and overall value
We’re all familiar with the quality of headphones created by Sennheiser. The same could be said for these MM30is.
This built-in smart volume unit incorporated into the design really stands out for me.
The microphones feature is also included. This means that you’ll be able to use this entire unit to change the volume while also having the ability to change tracks and answer phone calls.
The mic is actually so good that this model can easily be used as a headset.
But how do these in-ear headphones perform in terms of other important features?
Well, you’ll get 3 different size of ear tips which should fit most ears. However, you should know that these MM30is aren’t suitable for sport. Therefore, if you’re planning to buy them for running or working out in the gym, the fit will probably be nowhere near suitable for such an activity.
Other than that, the comfort levels experienced will be quite good.
The design looks quite cool and certainly more durable than most models within a similar price range. What’s great about all of this is the fact that you get a 2 year warranty from Sennheiser!
While checking out the sound, I noticed the excellence of the noise isolating feature.
We’ve already discussed how the buds may not fit everyone. However, when you do get a nice fit, these in-ear headphones will establish a nice seal which can be highly advantageous.
Other than this, the overall sound quality is fantastic and synonymous to the Sennheiser brand. While this was expected due to the brand name, I was a little bit surprised considering we’re looking at a very reasonably priced branded set for the qualities incorporated.
MEElectronics Sport-Fi M6P – best earbuds with mic and volume control
The MEElectronics Sport-Fi is a pair of earbuds with mic and volume control features.
As you can guess by the name, this product would be suitable for working out unlike the Sennheisers we’ve just discussed above. This is because of the over-the-ear style the design is based on.
The design also includes an in line remote which features the microphone and a control to change volume. This will definitely satisfy your requirements.
The availability of a wide range of colours and the inclusion of 6 ear tips is a massive plus point for these Sport-Fi M6Ps.
The ear tips aim to ensure that these earbuds fit you regardless of the size of your ear canals. While, this can’t be guaranteed, there is a better chance of a good fit with this model when compared to the Sennheiser MM30is.
On top of this, the memory wires are supposed to keep the buds in place which further enhances the fit.
All of the above points contribute in providing a comfortable fit.
While the sound isolation is great, the overall sound can’t be compared to the Sennheisers.
Therefore, if you’re looking for a model that sounds fantastic then don’t go for these M6Ps. However, we should also note that this model costs much less than the MM30is so it all depends on the importance of the sound quality against your budget.
Sony MDREX58V/BLK – Quality in a great price.
These Sony earbuds with volume control are very closely behind the 2 sets we’ve already talked about.
In fact, this is probably not true as all 3 of these products have been given the same rating.
The in line control to adjust the volume within these Sony MDREX58V/BLKs is actually made in a sliding design. From experience, I know most people prefer this type of design and I definitely think this will be handy for you.
Generally, in-ear headphones created by Sony usually provide a great fit and good comfort levels. While, the inclusion of 3 ear tips doesn’t suggest that, the small and light weight design does indeed provide great comfort.
Moving on to the sound, I found this to be fantastic too. However, I didn’t think the overall quality of the sound was as good as the Sennheiser MM30is. On top of this, the noise cancellation isn’t that effective.
You’ll notice that some of the sound is blocked but can we really expect anything more at this price?
In my honest opinion, this Sony MDREX58V/BLK set provides the greatest value from all of the products on our list.
The overall comfort and fit really stands out and durability is exactly to the levels we expect from Sony. For this reason, if you’re looking for the best price to performance ratio, go for Sony!
Alpatronix EX100 – Great value, good sound quality.
The sound control feature on these earbuds is in the form of a slider. Whether you have a preference for this style will depend entirely on you.
All I know is that this will be convenient and easy to use for most people.
A microphone feature is also included however this isn’t great in terms of clarity during a phone call.
The design of this model looks great and is visually appealing. The fact that there are 4 different colours available can also be a positive point in favour of this set of earbuds.
Unfortunately, when it comes to the fit, we only receive 3 sets of ear tips and this can obviously be a setback if you’ve had problems regarding the fit in the past.
If you have small ears then I’d probably suggest that you avoid these earphones. Despite this, the comfort levels are quite good but you’ll probably experience some form of discomfort after 3 or 4 hours of use.
The sound quality on the Alpatronix EX100s is good but it’s important to mention that it’s similar or slightly better than earphones we receive with our smartphones. This is probably not highly advantageous though the noise isolating feature does quite well.
You just need to remember that this set is inexpensive so we can’t really expect a perfect earbuds with volume control and mic for such a low price tag.
All I know is that the Alpatronix EX100s provide a terrific value for money!
Koss Pathfinders – Excellent Acoustic Quality and Robust Design
After extensively studying customer reviews and briefly testing the Koss Pathfinders, the team thought this model was incredibly comfortable.
This is especially surprising considering this is the cheapest set on the list and we all expect the comfort levels to go down along with the price.
The buds will fit into your ear canal really well which will also contribute to the impressive seal which minimizes sound leakage.
When looking at the volume slider, I thought that it did the job well and there’s not much more I can talk about regarding this feature.
Let’s quickly talk about the sound quality then.
The sound was another surprising element of these cheap earbuds. This reflects on the quality of headphones Koss have been releasing recently. While this won’t be able to reach the heights of big brands like Sennheiser, it’s more than capable of competing against more expensive in-ear headphones.
The only drawback that I encountered with this product is the lack of a microphone feature. If you plan to use this set as a hands-free then I’d probably go for the Sennheiser MM30is!
Regardless of this, the cost of just over 15 bucks makes buying this model a no-brainer!
I’ve talked you through the best sets and now it’s up to you to decide which one you’d prefer to buy. All 5 sets are very reasonably priced but you might have a specific budget which you want to stick to.
Let me just build on that by saying that all the sets we’ve discussed are fairly equal. They’re certainly the best within their respective price range when it comes to our main feature and overall quality.
I’m not sure if you noticed but the first 3 products received a rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars. This shows how tough the competition was.
Each model has its own advantages that we’ve separately discussed. However, when it comes to the sound control feature, I’m sure you’ll be pleased if you chose any one of these 5 sets of earbuds.
